Councilor Chidagu hails himself as a politician driven by the need to entrench democracy in the country and the desire to change people’s welfare.
This has seen the MDC Councilor contesting and winning the Glen View Ward 30 elections in 2018.
However the country’s economic situation has seriously and negatively impacted his vision with a proliferation of diseases as the healthcare system struggles.
“My vision is to see my community free from water borne diseases and to provide necessary service delivery”.
“Right now I am working with the community to make sure that we have water at any given time and I will engage all stakeholders to contribute in order for us to make sure that service delivery is accessed by the community” says Councillor Chidagu.
The challenges he is facing are hindering him from fulfilling his vision and the promises to the people.
“The challenges we are facing include not having enough resources, residents i are not paying their dues due to poverty and some are not paying because they are saying council is not giving enough services to them.
“We are also lacking resources which include financial and human resources; equipment for rehabilitating our roads, boreholes and even sweeping materials”
But despite all these problems he remains adamant that he is trying by all means to find alternative ways.
“At times we overcome these challenges through engaging private stakeholders and NGOs so that they assist”.
“Recently we have engaged with Oxfam which provides clean water by drilling borehole; Higherlife which gave cleaning materials and WHH and GIZ who gave us a Jet machine for unblocking our toilets and they also trained plumbers to assist the community for free” says the councillor.
Chidagu says from the time he was selected up to now he has implemented a number of projects and currently is “working with the community on drain clearing, all boreholes are functioning, public toilets are functioning and I am giving Aqua tablets to all households in Glen view to avoid cholera, ” he added.
Charles Chidagu has a very strong MDC political background and has hinted at remaining in support of embattled Nelson Chamisa.
“I am member of MDC since it’s formation and I worked for the party in different positions in Glen View.
“I started as Brranch Chair, I also served as District Youth Chair for more than 8 years and I am currently the District Vice Secretary”.
