The government is set to take over Norton Hospital following complaints that it was failing to adequately run the facility.
The Norton population has grown exponentially and now is around 100 000 a figure which the facility can no longer service sufficiently.
Norton legislator Temba Mliswa applauded the move and said, “the exponential population growth in Norton could no longer be adequately serviced at Norton Hospital.
“The move by Govt is a welcome relief to the community. It’ll see improved infrastructural development&services at the facility. Next municipal status for Norton; we’re on course.”
