Norton legislator Temba Mliswa has castigated the Norton Town Council for dereliction of duty over poorly made drainage systems which have resulted in the flooding of some areas.
Mliswa said the responsible engineer, whom he alleges was involved with former MP Killer Zivhu, should be fired from her job.
Writing on social media Mliswa accused Engineer Maramba of being compromised and failing to execute her duties properly.
Zivhu is the developer in one of Norton’s suburbs of Galloway.
Posting pictures of the affected area, Mliswa said, “these are the type of outcomes which lead us to ratchet the call for the removal of certain people in Norton Town Council.
“I have always argued that Engineer Maramba, who has a baby with Killer Zivhu, is compromised and failed to carry out her duties properly due to that”.
Mliswa also accused other Council officials of failing to carry out due diligence.
“Other Council officials have been endorsing and supporting wrong things and we know some of them were paid with stands. Now the effects are being felt on the ground and it’s the residents who are suffering”.
“It’s only one day that Norton Town Council officials will all be held to account for endorsing decisions that are wrong, which have been instigated by people with personal agendas.
“Now the people in Koshen Drive have man-made floods. The Engineer must he go”, he added.
The affected areas in Norton have been swamped with water which is corroding the walls endangering the strength of the structures.
However, some have accused the residents of building on wetlands which is against the law.
This week some Chitungwiza residents had their houses flooded after torrential rains whilst then more unfortunate had their houses swept off.
