The Chitungwiza Town Council is set to start demolitions of illegal structures at Makoni Shopping Centre today.
This follows a warning released last week by the local authority urging all illegal traders to vacate the sites.
In a statement Chitungwiza Spokesperson Mr Lovemore Meya said, “We are going to demolish illegal makeshift markets that had been erected by space barons.
“The event is today (at) 9am at Makoni shopping centre”.
Various traders have erected flea markets and sheds in an space adjacent the main trading centre at the place.
Goods of varying types such as second hand clothes, electrical equipment and foodstuffs sold there.
Councils have annually battled to restrict the growth of these informal trading places as they continue coming up due to the national job crisis.
