Harare and Chitungwiza have received more funding aimed at fighting Covid19 as central government allocated them a total of ZWL$16.5 million.
Bulawayo also received ZWL$6 million under the same program.
The Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Senator Monica Mutsvangwa announced this.
In a media statement on Monday 3 August, she said government will also establish 4 additional Rapid Response Teams for Chitungwiza (2), Ruwa (1) and Epworth (1) to handle COVID-19 cases effectively.
“The latest hotspots to be analyzed are the Fresh Vegetable markets in Harare and Bulawayo. It was noted that persons from different environs visit these markets and testing would give an indication of infection rates,” she said.
The three places have seen a spike in cases of Covid as the country nears 4000 cases with 70 fatalities.
