A soup kitchen by Inflame the Dream, has begun serving food to thousands of vulnerable people in a sign of worsening social conditions in the country.
The organisation this week served food to thousands of children and the elderly drawn from Zengeza 1,2,3&5 as well as St Mary’s.
It becomes the latest such venture following many food programmes which have sprouted across multiple urban areas in the advent of Covid-19 and the government lockdown.
This month the United States of America released an additional US$10 million in response to the Covid-19 pandemic that will see 100 000 vulnerable Zimbabweans in eight urban areas benefiting from the programme
The project will be managed by the USAID and World Food Programme (WFP) and is meant to address increasing food insecurity in urban areas.
