The Zimbabwe National Water Authority (ZINWA) has released shocking statistics of receding dam levels with the country facing an imminent drought and various urban centers suffering acute water shortages.
According to ZINWA dam water levels have already begun going down in the midst of what is supposed to be a rainy season.
“Water levels in the country’s major dams have started receding owing to the high temperatures, continued draw-downs for domestic and irrigation purposes as we as the reduction in river flows”, it said.

Dam level average 48.8%
Gwayi Catchment 38.4%
Lake Chivero 58.4%
Karoi Dam 24.6%
Mthsabezi Dam 60.7%
Zhove Dam 56.7%
Upper Ncema 4.5%
Lower Ncema 5.6%
